# ClaimToRepair > ClaimToRepair makes the insurance-claim side of property damage easier and gets repairs done across the USA. It helps homeowners document damage with guided phone photos and provides free inspections, contractor estimates and photo reports they can share with their adjuster; one licensed local contractor handles the repairs. It does not file, negotiate or adjust claims. Service is available (all 50 states) for hail/roof, water/flood, storm/tree, fire/smoke, mold and disaster cleanup. It is a referral service: a request is forwarded to one independent local service provider, who may pay a referral fee. It is not an insurer, agent or public adjuster. We are not a public adjuster or insurer and do not negotiate claims. Coverage decisions are made by your insurance company. Insurance coverage depends on each policy. ## How it works 1. A homeowner submits a short form (name, phone, email, ZIP, damage type). 2. One independent local company contacts them to schedule a free inspection and give a free quote, at no cost to the homeowner to get started. 3. The homeowner decides whether to hire that company. Insurance coverage is decided only by the homeowner's insurer. ## Quick answers - **Should I tarp my roof after storm damage?** If rain can get in through damaged shingles, flashing or a hole, temporary protection such as a properly secured tarp can help limit further interior damage. Many homeowners policies list protecting the property from further damage as one of your duties after a loss, and reasonable temporary repair costs may be reimbursable depending on your policy. Do not climb onto a damaged or wet roof yourself; a roofer or restoration company can install a tarp safely. - **Does insurance pay for an emergency roof tarp?** It depends on your policy and on whether the underlying damage is covered. Many policies treat reasonable, necessary temporary repairs as part of a covered claim, subject to your deductible. Keep the invoice and photos, and ask your insurer or agent before authorizing anything beyond temporary protection. - **How do I know if hail damaged my roof?** Look from the ground for dented gutters, downspouts, vents and AC fins, granules collecting at downspouts, and missing or cracked shingles. Many roof hail marks are only visible up close, so a professional inspection is the reliable way to know. - **Does homeowners insurance cover flooding?** Standard homeowners policies typically exclude damage from flooding (rising surface water). Flood coverage is usually purchased separately through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) or a private flood insurer. Sudden, accidental water damage from inside the home, like a burst pipe, is often handled under homeowners coverage. Check your own policy for details. - **What should I check before hiring a storm contractor?** Verify licensing where your state or city requires it, ask for certificates of general liability and workers' compensation insurance, confirm a local address, get a written estimate and contract, and avoid paying large sums upfront. ## Services -
